When did this project begin?
Community Center First Proposed – 1957
Master Plan Identified Facility Need – 1983
In 2018 we hired UNH (at no cost to the tax payers) to determine if there was a need in Wakefield for this building.
The team from UNH presented their findings to the selectmen in August of 2019. You can view that video here. https://vimeo.com/355239610
After approval from the selectmen to continue on with our project we started working with Harriman architect firm that conducted a feasibility study for us. This was again at a zero cost to the tax payers.
In January of 2022 the selectmen approved Warrant article 2 to be passed through to the budget committee. The budget committee approved warrant article 2 on a vote of 8-4 in favor.
Voting Results
– 491 Voted Yes
– 452 Voted No

2022 - Our committee went back to the drawing board and developed a new plan that will be added to the warrant article for voting in 2023. Please take a look at the presentation located below FMI.
